Angel 2 days old
The morning of 16th December 2011 started as normal with icy conditions. I had been getting ready for my neice coming over from Scotland to ride our pony Goldie. Goldie had been in the stables and on a strict diet. I was due to take her to get her ridden and the girls had been riding her the weekend before. Due to the ice we were not able to go and Ian went to give her some hay until the ice thawed. He rang me on my mobile and said that Goldie had lost a lot of weight over night and to come and see.

Angel day2
I went out of the nursery and down to the stables. There was this little foal in Goldie’s stable. What a shock – a very pleasant shock.

Angel sporting herself !
We had no idea that the girl’s pony was in foal. In fact nature rarely lets this happen and mares do not usually cycle in the winter months. Goldie conceived during the really bad snow last winter and we had no idea that our colt had been to visit her. We have called her Angel and she is a really friendly little foal. She is the best Christmas box ever.
