Day 3 55 miles completed
Today began very well considering everyone was exhausted but we knew we only had 21 miles to Holyhead and a break on the boat, then 34 miles off the boat. The weather was windy but dry and we had a lie in to 7am!!! We set off at 8am and today we had one minute’s silence to reflect on family and friends absent.
We all made good time and it was strange riding our bikes onto the boat. It was quite a rough crossing which was not so good for the few bad travellers among us!
It was lovely to cycle off the boat and know that we are on the home stretch. Cycling in Dublin was an experience. Traffic lights, traffic lights and more traffic lights! We got out safely and headed north for Drogheda. The last 16 miles were eventful. A dog appeared while the lads were going down a hill at 25 mph. The dog was hit and one of the guys came off his bike. Luckily both are ok and the bike will see another day! We then had a few other bike problems but everyone arrived safe and well. Today has been the toughest for me so far, as I have started to feel pain my weaker knee. I am unsure how it will be in the morning but one way or the other I will be home.
One more sleep and one more cycle, then home. The final day of 85 miles is tomorrow and we have all had a good dinner, so I will say good night to dream of Belfast!
