Day 1 70 miles down, 270 miles to go
Wales, what beautiful scenery to cycle through! I know the Mourne Mountains are big, but the Brecon Beacons must come close. Today we havegone through all emotions – a tear for family and friends not with us for support, a shock at myself not being able to swallowmy lunch and of course the euphoria of the home line and a cheer from the fit, speed merchants, awaiting our arrival. The support team from Expedition Wise are fab. One rider cycled at the front and one at the back. We spent a lot of the day with Paul at the back- may I add, nothing to be ashamed of!!!
Our hotel is lovely and Jess and I have never been so excited at the sight of a bath in the bathroom! On our trainer, Gerry’s advice we did the cold shower then hot bath then cold shower. Gerry thank you for all your work training us, we wish you could be here.
We are in a positive mood but still anxious about the hills that tomorrow holds and the fact that it is 100 miles. We are focusing on the boat journey and can’t wait to see the green grass of Ireland.
Please all give a donation. It does not matter how small it is every penny counts and Marie Curie need it all to provide support to families. Thank you allffor your text messages of support. Keep them coming as they keep us strong. Until tomorrow. Lisa and Jess xxxxxx
